2008 Holiday Letter

Happy Holidays

As we send greetings to friends and family near and far, remember, whether we’re together or apart, you all share a special place in our hearts. In the midst of the holiday rush, shopping and wrapping and sending gifts to loved ones far and near, remember that the best gift you can give is your love. Listen to the magical music of Christmas and keep the enchantment in your hearts all through the year.

We are so fortunate to be able to travel: February to Florida, April to Virginia Historic House and Garden Tour with McGuirks, September to New England with Koehlers.
We are so happy to be able to visit our children and relatives: Chicago, State College, and Medina.
We love being able to make, teach and enjoy music: Piano studio recitals, chamber music, concerts, Musicians Concert Band, Butler Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony
.
Our mother Flora is living at Newhaven Court, she will be 99 in January of 2009. Her health is good and her memory is excellent. We are thankful to have her with us.

Our children, Vincent, Bryan, Christina, Michael, and Vicky and their families, all continue to enjoy the fruits of their labor and continue to make us proud to have had something to do with their success. Nick, Vicky’s husband, is now Chief of the Bureau of Fire for the City of Butler.

On April 26th, Bruno Joseph Sanzotti. our tenth grandchild, was born in State College to Michael and Dawn Sanzotti. He is a wonderful child and a happy lad. Erik Sanzotti graduated from Wheaton North High School in May and has matriculated at Northern Illinois State in September. Damien has accepted a teaching position in the Berlin MD school District and Jessica is the Marketing Director for Chesapeake Physical Therapy. Our growing talented grandchildren continue to make us proud with their attempts and achievements. They are all doing quite well and we are proud of all of them.

We hope this holiday is a safe, healthy, happy one for you and your family. Please let us hear from you from cyber space, our e-mail is vsanzcsanz@zoominternet.net and claudette816@zoominternet.net our family blog, www.sanzotti.blogspot.com
Please support our new President, Barak Obama, as he attempts to restore our country to previous greatness.

Wishing you all things bright and beautiful, Claudette and Jim, December 2008

A Lot To Be Thankful About!

A nice gathering for turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings occured in Butler. It was great to have everyone home, healthy and happy. We are thankful for that and for how well we all get along together. Bruno was the center of attention on Friday, he is growing and still is a happy guy. It was great to have Bryan and family here, and Mike and Dawn stopped in from a trip to Florida. Erik was home from his first year at NIS, Damien was able to stop in with Kate and her mother Chris. All the granddaughters demostrated beauty and talent in some form. They are all developing into wonderful young ladies. We all gathered Friday for an early gift exchange that proved to be the wave of the future. Thank you all , we love you.

A New Savannah Family Member

This is Alex, she's a 5 month old retriever, doberman, lab mix we adopted today. Natalie has been working on us for a dog for at least 6 months now and we fell in love with Alex. She's very sweet, hardly barks and loves to cuddle. Can't wait for everyone to meet her. (She can't put a block in the giraffe but we'll work on it.)

More Bruno...

We thought you may all like seeing a video of Bruno putting a block into a giraffe. He is definitley above average...

New England Trip in September

Mayflower replica --- Sam Adams stands guard at Market

Bruno was glad to see us!

Our tour of the New England States went very well, the weather was excellent, we travelled with Koehlers (Bob and Jean) and we enjoyed the various stops that we had planned. We spent the second week on Cape Cod, visiting up and down cape and Martha's Vineyard. We were able to tour Boston and visit all the normal places there. We made stops in Albany,NY to see the USS Slater, the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, Samuel Clements house in Hartford, Robert Todd Lincoln House in Manchester VT, Surbridge Village in MA, and Kennebunk, ME. We visited with Jeff Wargo, and a nephew of Jean Koehler's in Hull, MA. We ate lobster and a lot of seafood in many restaurants. Despite the enjoyment we were glad to get home, visiting Bruno on the way. We send our love to you all, Dad

Summer of 2008

The summer was fun for all in Butler. Bruno was baptised on June 29th, Bryan,Hayley and Erik visited over the 4th of July. We had a nice trip to Pittsburgh, visiting the Carnegie Museum and taking a ride on Just Ducky. We had a 4th of July Feast then a lake activities afternoon capped by wiener and marsh mellow roasts.

Bruno enjoys music, eating and sleeping. He is a very hansome lad with blue eyes.

Much of the visit was with good weather however it did rain on our day in Pittsburgh. Kate got to drive the Ducky on the Allegheny River. We all missed Aunt Pam and Megan, stuck a home with injury and sickness.

A wet ride on the Just Ducky after a lunch at Buca di Beppo
Bruno was handsomely dipped several times in the Holy Water, thus christened Bruno Joseph Sanzotti. He is growing into a fine young man, soon to be ensconced in a new home on Nimitz Ave in State College.

Winter trip in2008

Mom and I had a great trip South, arriving home March 9th. We were able to spend a night each in Richmond, and Jacksonville Beach. Then a week at West Palm Beach, two nights in Delray Beach, one in Bradenton, one in St. Petersburg and a week in Orlando at the Grande Vista. We visited with Keohlers, Sills, our wonderful granddaughters and their mother from Wheaton, and our wonderful granddaughters, their mother and father from Butler. It was great seeing everyone and enjoying the warm weather. Actually we missed a pretty significant storm back home. Katie and Lauren have a ball at Disney World, and we enjoyed being there to watch. Hayley and Megan had some success at the meet in St. Petersburg, Hayley taking a first on the beam and their team winning 1st place honors. The weather was good the entire time, and we arrived home ready to dive into teaching and playing again, also beginning preparations for Easter. We hope everyone is fine and in good health, Love Mom and Dad

Happy Birthday Grandma and Maria

On Sunday, January 20th we celebrated the births of Flora Sanzotti and Maria Savannah. One turned 98 on January 15th and the other turned into a teenager instantly on the 20th even though her birthday is really on the 25th. On the menu, homemade pasta, braijole, lemon chicken and an awesome salad with fruit, cheese and nuts. The birthday cake was an angelfood cake layered with sweet ricotta cheese and turtle cheesecake. Despite the bitter cold outside, it was warm in cozy inside and a great day to spend with family. We missed all those who could not be with us.
